Biography

Lynn Grigsby Frieda grew up in Oklahoma and Texas, and then ventured off to Washington D.C., following university. An eye-opening experience on Capitol Hill, as Press Secretary to former US Congressman Dave McCurdy, took her on her first overseas trip to Pakistan. She has not looked back!

After a rewarding year as a Rotary Scholar in Canberra, Australia (and following a near-interview with the leader of a Philippine coup attempt), she taught English in rural Japan, a time she still cherishes. In 1991, Lynn and her future husband, Gene, moved to London, England, where she pursued a degree in International Relations at the London School of Economics. Still in love with the world, but thoroughly scared of political theory, Lynn returned to Washington in 1993 to work for the U.S. government, analysing Asian political leaders.

Initially reluctant, she later moved to New York City to work as a writer at the New York Federal Reserve Bank, Petroleum Intelligence Weekly, and Petroleum Argus. In her free-time, she honed her skills as a photographer and even became an assertive New Yorker.

Finally fed up with the daily grind, Lynn and Gene left  NYC to embark on a six-month global odyssey across the world. Their travels through Siberia, Mongolia, China, Nepal, and India served as her launching pad to pursue her freelance career as a travel writer and photographer.

Between photo shoots of Italian Ape carts and children in The  Royal Parks, Lynn has published articles on her adventures in various U.S. newspapers and magazines, least notably Stephen King's hometown newspaper, the Bangor Daily News.

Having been recognized as a finalist/winner of various travel photo contests such as the Wanderlust Magazine's UK-based International Travel Photographer of the Year, and United Airlines, Lynn was also featured in travel books as well as a variety of magazines including BBC's Olive and Good Food; American Express-owned Departures; Conde Nast Traveler; Style.com, the online home of Vogue/W Magazine, and Conde Nast Men.style.com-GQ.

Following a brief spell in Singapore at the turn of the Millennium, Lynn and Gene finally set down their roots and they now live in London with their son, Lorenzo, alongside their three fur-feathered babies: Boomer, Skeeter Henry and Scooby Deux.  Needless to say, travel remains an integral part of their lives. After creating Totopak, a functional yet stylish travel bag concept, and with the end of the teenage years in sight, Lynn is embarking on her next big adventure.
